Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost
So I decided to decorated my wall today because I was bored and also because I was thinking of my cousin who has something similar in her room. She chose a quote from the well known Divergent. I chose to take a very famous quote by J.R.R Tolkien. I'm sure you all know him, if you don't does Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit ring any bells? It must! Anyway, it took me quite some time but I managed to get it up on my wall with the help of my sister. Thank you little sister! You can now decorate your wall with any quote from your favourite book or perhaps a movie, even a song or a poem, it's all up to you!
What you'll need:
- Photoshop
- many images (For my quote I chose loads of Hobbit and LOTR images)
- separate images of letters
- scissors
- blue tac
- patience
How to do it:
1. Open Photoshop and gather all your images.
2. Using the same method as the one from the Elephant Butterfly Tutorial or the DIY Watercolor Map (I remind you: use your "magnetic lasso" and go around your first letter. For the other images, in my case the hobbit ones, go to "select", click "all" then go to "edit"and click "copy". Go back to your letter and go to "edit" and select "paste into".)
3. Repeat this step for all your images.
4. Print and cut them out.
5. Using the blue tac, hang it up on the wall in the correct order. This might take some time to get it straight or centered.
Now step back and enjoy this super easy wall decoration!
How was it, not too complicated I hope?
Enjoy!
Plum & almond crumble slice
Plum & almond crumble slice:
Hello! There are two reasons for why I am posting this recipe. First reason is that we are in autumn so it is time for plums and other fruits and second reason is that I am really hungry right now and this is what I feel like eating. Anyway, it really does look amazing and it doesn't sound too hard to bake. My sister will probably make them since she is the cook in this family. I'll just sit back, relax, with a good book and stuff myself with these delicious looking traybake.
What you'll need:
- 250g pack butter (cold)
- 225g caster sugar
- 300g ground almonds
- 140g plain flour, extra 25g
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- approx 6 plums, stoned and cut into sixths
- 50g flaked almonds

- 1 tsp baking powder
- approx 6 plums, stoned and cut into sixths
- 50g flaked almonds
How to do it:
1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Butter and line a 20 x 30cm baking tin with baking paper. Put the butter, sugar and ground almonds into a food processor, then pulse until the mixture resembles very rough breadcrumbs. Spoon out half the mix into a bowl and set aside.
2. Add 140g flour into the mix in the processor and whizz until it just forms a dough. Tip into the tin and press down with the back of a spoon. Bake for 15-20 mins until golden. Leave to cool for 10 mins.
3. To make the filling, put the remaining butter and the sugar and almond mix back into the processor, saving a few tbsp for the topping. Add the eggs, the 25g flour, cinnamon and baking powder and whizz to a soft batter. Spread over the base.
4. Top with the plum pieces and a little extra caster sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 20 mins, then sprinkle with the remaining crumble mix and flaked almonds. Cook for another 20 mins or until golden. Leave to cool in the tin before slicing.
Yummy!!!
Enjoy!
DIY Frame Shelves
DIY Frame Shelves:
Hello! Hello! Sorry for being away for so long and not posting anything, I've been very busy, I have so much homework but i'm here now! Since I'm a bit tight on time and haven't had the chance to make anything, I've searched everywhere and found this really nice and easy DIY by Shanty 2 Chic, DIY Frame Shelves. It is so great and adds a beautiful touch to a bare wall. Hope you give it a try because I definitely will!
What you'll need:
- old picture frame
- 1x4 boards
- ruler
- wood glue
- spray paint (optional)
How to do it:
1. Remove the different parts of your old picture frame and keep only the frame.
2. Measure each side then cut the boards to the measurements of the frame. You should have four
different pieces.
3. Glue the pieces together with the wood glue. (you could nail them together as well)
4. Glue the frame to your new box/ shelf.
5. You can secure it with nails.
6. Finally if you would like, you can paint the whole frame in white like the one that was done by Shanty 2 Chic. I would have probably left them bare to give this antique look.
Lovely isn't it?
Enjoy!
