HELLO SINGAPORE

Hello everybody,

So I thought I'd post a few pictures from my trip to Singapore. A bit over a week ago, I went on a school trip to Singapore. This was the best school trip ever. Sadly, we only stayed for five days but it was really amazing. I went to Marina Bay Sand for the light show and to the maritime gallery. The Changi Museum Trail was extremely interesting, probably the most interesting thing we've done there. Went to see the famous shop houses and did a river tour. I wouldn't mind going back although the first time I went there, I didn't like it at all. Anyway here are the pictures.

 

This is cat I met. His name is Fat Cat. All he does is sleep and eat. This very chubby cat is a girl and is the most adorable cat I've seen!

 

 

Yes I had a barbecue on the beach and it was so lovely. We sat on that big rock you can see on the picture above and sang till almost midnight and roasted marshmallows. Best night ever!

INDIAN INSPIRED ANTIQUE DRESSER

Hello everyone! Wow! it's been a while since I've posted. Sorry about that. I have no excuses. Anyway, I was looking around for some DIYs and I came across this amazing Indian Inspired Antique Dresser on Hometalk. I had to post it of course. It's a shame their aren't any second hand shops or antique stores here where I could possibly find a dresser like this one. If there was I wouldn't waste any time, I would gather all the materials needed to recreate this beautiful piece.If you are lucky and find an antique dresser worth a makeover, you should definitely read below or check out Furniture Alchemy for more furniture makeovers.



What you'll need:

- an antique dresser 
- different shades of turquoise chalk paint for the base
- General Finishes gel stain in "Antique Walnut"for the top
- Stencils
- golden yellow paint or chalk paint
- coral paint or chalk paint
- aqua blue paint or chalk paint
- oil rubbed bronze metallic coating
- General Finishes high performance polyacrylic

How to do it:

1. Start off by stripping the top and painting the base in turquoise chalk paint. To achieve this colour, different shades of turquoise were mixed together.



2. Use the "Antique Walnut" gel stain to stain the top. This makes the wood darker and brings out the turquoise colour. 



3. Stencil your chosen pattern on the wood on the sides of all the drawers. The colours used for this dresser were coral, aqua blue and golden yellow. You can, of course, choose other colours.



4. Complete the piece by painting the hardware in an oil rubbed bronze metallic.

5. Finally coat the dresser in a high performance polyacrylic to protect the finish piece.
