DIY Akong inspired Pom Pom Necklace

DIY Akong inspired Pom Pom Necklace

DIY pom pom necklace  Original Necklace by Nicole Akong

Inspiration for this fourth capsule collection of luxe statement necklaces by Nicole Akong comes from the vibrant and colourful textile crafts of mountain tribes, from the South American Andes to the far extremes of Eastern Europe.

Brightly coloured woolen, tassel and faux fur trims are stitched into chunky silver-plated and 24 carat gold-plated chains and embellished with Swarovski crystals, rich velvet ribbons and organic cords.

The collection evokes the warmth of the South American winter sun while staying true to its glamorous city roots.

How could we resist such a necklace!

What you'll need:

- 2 feet of pom pom trim
- 2 feet of chain
- 40-60 jump rings
- 4 feet of nylon cord
- 2 needle nose pliers

How to do it:

1. Start by attaching the chain to the outer edge of the pom pom trim with the jump rings. If you are using cable chain, connect a jump ring through every other link. If you are using cable chain, connect a jump ring though each link.

2. Pick up each end of the cord and the chain will naturally fall on top of the pom pom trim.

3. Center the pom pom and chain portion. You’ll need to attach this portion to the cord to prevent it from sliding.

4. Add another jump ring to the first link of the chain and pierce it through the cord. Do the same with the last link.

And there you have it, your new pom pom necklace is finished!
