Classic Buttermilk Waffles with Mixed Berries

Waffles... So much easier than pancakes and just as lovely. I have been craving waffles for a while now so I decided to make the classic buttermilk ones, crisp on the outside yet soft and fluffy in the centre. I love pancakes and waffles equally however after eating pancakes, it always feels like I am carrying a food baby... Waffles taste great and are just so much lighter which is a bonus. Anyway, without further ado, here is my classic buttermilk waffle with mixed berries.

What You'll Need:

Waffles:

- waffle iron
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar
- 1 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup canola oil or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings:

- raspberries
- blackberries
- bananas
- strawberries
- honey
- dark chocolate
- whipped cream

How to do it:

1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Make a well in the centre of the mixture and set aside.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, buttermilk, oil and vanilla extract together. Pour into the well of the first bowl. Stir until the batter becomes slightly lumpy.

3. Preheat your waffle iron and spray with nonstick spray. Pour the batter into the waffle iron grid and close the lid. Cook until waffles are completely done. Use a fork to remove the waffles once cooked. Keep the waffles warm until they are ready to serve.

4. Now for the toppings.
My first waffle is a strawberry & banana waffle with a chocolate base, drizzled with honey. I melted some dark chocolate in a casserole with milk and butter. I however didn't want it completely melted as I preferred a paste-like consistency for my waffle.
My second waffle is whipped cream, blackberries and raspberries and my final waffle is raspberry, whipped cream and chocolate.

Note: If you would like to achieve the frozen berries look simply freeze your berries ahead. Make sure they are fresh. Do not wash them before freezing them. Once they are frozen, remove them from the freezer. Do not touch them with your fingers as this will ruin the look immediately. Wait a few minutes for the berries to defrost and place them on your waffles using a tweezer. And voila!
Frozen berries look beautiful on camera!

Stained Glass Iphone Case

So today I will be showing you how I made this Stitch Stained Glass Iphone case. I had a clear case lying around waiting to be decorated. I wasn't sure what I wanted on the case until I saw these Disney themed stained glass on Pinterest and I was like "Yeah! That's what I want!"
I gathered my Sharpies and got to work.

What You'll Need:

- clear Iphone Case
- colourful Sharpies
- black marker
- stained glass image you would like to copy
- white paper

This is the image I used because I love Stitch. I do not own this image and I do not know who it belongs to so if it yours, please let me know so that I can give you credit:

How To Do It:

1. I started off by outlining the image onto my white sheet of paper like so. I didn't copy the image exactly as I wanted to change it up a bit to fit the dimensions of the case.

2. Grab your case and place the back of it onto your drawing. I secured mine with blue tack that way the case wouldn't slide off while I colour it in.

3. I drew the outlines onto the case first using a black marker and then coloured each piece in using different shades of colours. I improvised a bit for certain parts of the drawing such as the yellow coloured sand which does not appear on my initial drawing. Let it dry for a bit and then place it on your phone.

And voila! You have a brand new Iphone case!

Egg-In-A-Hole

Today I will be sharing with you a very simple recipe for eggs-in-a-hole. Perfect for breakfast or snack time, it can be eaten on its own or as a sandwich.

Note: This is also a perfect recipe for Valentine's day 💕. Opt for a heart-shaped pastry cutter instead of a round one and surprise your loved one with a beautiful and tasty breakfast in bed!

What you'll need: (serves 2)

- 2 slices of bread (4 for sandwich)
- 2 eggs
- salt
- butter
- non-stick pan
- round pastry cutter or a glass

How to do it:

1. Start by cutting the holes out of your bread. I used a glass as I did not have a circle cutter. Meanwhile heat up your pan.

2. Your bread should look like this. For the sandwich, do not cut any holes into your two other slices.

3. Once your pan is hot, add some butter. Wait till the butter is melted then place your bread in the pan.

4. Wait till your bread becomes a golden colour before flipping it over.

5. Now that you've flipped your bread over, add a bit more butter in the hole where your egg will be cooked.

6. Crack your egg like so and add salt for flavour. Cover your pan and wait approx. 2 minutes till your egg is cooked and the bottom of the bread is golden. Repeat with your second slice of bread. For the sandwich, simply place your bread in the pan and cook till both sides are golden. This will be the base of your sandwich. Simply prepare your sandwich as you normally would, placing the slice with the egg at the top. I used German Salami for mine but bacon is another great option.

And there you have it, a delicious Egg-in-a-Hole! Don't hesitate to share photos of your egg-in-a-hole in the comments.

Stranger Things T-Shirt

SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD EGGO?

I'm in an 80s mood so i shall continue with yet another Stranger Things themed project. I have today for you a fashion DIY. So you might have noticed these "Should I Stay or Should Eggo" t-shirts and sweaters online and you may have also noticed that they cost quite a bit so instead of spending your money on the shipping fee, why not make it yourself?

What You'll Need:

- plain white t-shirt
- transfer paper
- iron
- inkjet printer
- flat surface (table)
- scissors

How To Do It:

1. Prepare your image and print it on your transfer paper. For the one I used, I had to mirror the image and print it on the blank side so carefully read the instructions given with your transfer paper.

2. This is how the image appears once mirrored and printed onto the transfer paper.

3. Cut around your image and position it on your t-shirt. I advise not to have the image too high up. When ironing, it is best to use a flat surface e.g a wooden table. An ironing board is not advisable.  Heat the t-shirt up before by ironing it. For my transfer paper, the image must be face down on the t-shirt, with the red grid at the back facing upwards. I then slowly and consistently ironed the image for 3 minutes, with circular motions making sure to cover every section.

4. To fix the image, I used a silicon paper which came with the packet. I placed the silicon paper over the design and ironed it for 30 seconds and then peeled it off when it was still hot.

Now you have a cute new t-shirt to add to your closet and one that you can show off to fellow Stranger Things lovers!

Stranger Things Wall Art

Today's DIY is going to be a themed one. As a huge Stranger Things fan, I thought what could I do that is both super easy and super fun and really screams "Stranger Things". So I went for the famous alphabet that Joyce (Winona Ryder) uses to communicate with Will.  It is a great DIY and looks fantastic on my wall.

What You'll Need:

- Picture Frame
- Sheet of Paper (Size of your frame)
- Marker or Black Paint
- Mini multicoloured fairy lights

The fairy lights are available on Amazon: (I used the Bright Zeal 33'FT Led Battery Operated one)

 .

How to do it:

So this is what the wall looks like in the first season of Stranger Things. You can use this as your model.

1. Start by drawing out your letters on your sheet of paper. What's great about this wall art is that you don't have to be neat.

2. Fill in your letters using your marker or black paint. Again no need to be neat. Paint a line above each row of letters. Grab something pointy and poke holes above the letters.

3. Grab your fairy lights and push them through the holes like so and all you have to do is place your alphabet in your frame and voila!

DIY Enamel Pin Display Banner

I've recently started an enamel pin collection after my trip to Venice and wanted a cute way to display them. While scrolling through my Instagram feed, I stumbled upon an enamel pin banner. I thought "Oh! That looks great! Where can I get one?" After searching around London without result, I gave up and decided to make my own. So today I will be sharing with you my DIY enamel pin banner.

Don't mind my very small collection of pins! I've only just started and will continue collecting pins from all the places I travel to starting from now.

What you'll need:

- fabric (It can be felt or denim. I used an old canvas tote bag for mine.)
- chopstick (or any other stick)
- string or rope
- sheet of A4 paper
- pen or marker
- needle and thread (preferably white thread to match the banner)
- scissors
- a nice collection of pins

How to do it:

1. First off find the fabric you want to use for your banner. I suggest using canvas as it is easier to pin and also looks quite pretty. I was going to use a hanger to hang the banner but changed my mind after so please ignore it.

2. Take your A4 sheet of paper and fold the edges like shown in the photo.

3. Use your folded A4 to trace the outline of your banner. Once you've done this, simply cut around.

4. You're now going to sew your banner together. Start by folding the top, creating a crease. Sew around the edges without sewing the top. This is where your chopstick will go.

5. Slide the chopstick into the tube you have made for it. Take your string and attach it on either end of the chopstick. I used two tasseled strings and tied them together.

And voilà! All you have to do now is put on all your enamel pins, hang it on your wall and admire it!

Still plenty of room for more pins!
